Aegis opens second services centre in TN.

Global outsourcing and technology services firm Aegis Limited, part of the Essar Group, recently inaugurated its new centre at Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu.

The centre was inaugurated by Union finance minister P Chidambaram, who originates from the Sivaganga district.

Spread across one acre, the centre will have an initial capacity of 250 seats, which translates into 500 direct white-collared jobs. It is expected to provide indirect employment of around four-fold, according to the company.

It will offer both voice and non-voices services for Aegis customers in India and will work with the Chennai centre as a hub-and-spoke model. The Chennai centre currently is staffed with 720 people.

According to industry sources, the new centre saw an investment of around Rs 8 crore, excluding the cost of land.

This will be the second centre for Aegis in Tamil Nadu.
