PM Modi inaugurates POWERGRID transmission projects worth ₹3,600 crore in Rajasthan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated transmission infrastructure projects worth over ₹3,600 crore in Rajasthan, aimed at strengthening the evacuation of renewable energy and supporting India’s growing clean energy ecosystem.
Developed by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID), the projects include key transmission systems designed to transport large-scale solar power generated in the state to the national grid.
The initiatives comprise the Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan, with a capacity of 20 GW under Phase-III Part-B1. This includes the 765/400/220 kV Bhadla-III substation and the 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla-III–Sikar-II transmission line.
Additionally, the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for Evacuation of Power from Solar Energy Zones (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-E will feature the 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla-II–Sikar-II second transmission line.
Located in the Bhadla region, home to one of the world’s largest solar parks with over 2.2 GW of capacity, the infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance the transmission of solar power to meet India’s rising electricity demand while advancing the country’s clean energy targets.
According to POWERGRID, these projects also reinforce its role in building a robust national transmission network capable of supporting the rapid growth of renewable energy capacity and contributing to India’s long-term economic development.
