Alignment change in Hyd Metro: Telangana to formally inform L&T.

The Telangana Government is likely to formally communicate to Hyderabad metro rail concessionaire L&T, the need for alignment change at atleast three places on the 72-km elevated metro project.

This follows a detailed review meeting the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had with senior officials of Hyderabad metro rail, including its Managing Director NVS Reddy, in the presence of Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was firm that the alignment change was required keeping in view the need to protect heritage structures, temples and mosques along the corridor. He also expressed that there has been demand from elected representatives about the need for alignment change.

The L&T officials have been informed in the past but no formal letter seeking changes in the alignment were communicated. During the meeting with L&T representatives headed by its Chairman AM Naik on November 15, L&T was conveyed about the need to change alignment. But L&T had been mentioning that no formal representation was made and that alignment change would be considered based on feasibility and the State meeting additional cost escalation.
