Amgen establishes center in Hyderabad with $200 million investment.
U.S.-based biopharmaceutical giant Amgen has established a new technology and innovation center in Hyderabad, committing $200 million in investments through 2025, with plans for sustained funding in the coming years.
The center, inaugurated on Monday in the city’s Hitec area, will enhance Amgen’s digital capabilities through artificial intelligence and data science, driving innovation in drug development while generating significant employment opportunities for local talent.
Welcoming Amgen to Hyderabad, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the city’s growing stature as a biotech hub. “We look forward to working with global leaders like Amgen to further strengthen Hyderabad’s position in life sciences,” he said.
Amgen’s Chairman and CEO, Robert A. Bradway, highlighted the company’s focus on technology-driven advancements. “The opening of Amgen India marks a significant milestone in our efforts to leverage technology across our global network to better serve patients. We appreciate the Government of Telangana’s support and are proud to contribute to Hyderabad’s thriving life sciences ecosystem,” he stated.
Som Chattopadhyay, Amgen’s National Executive for India, underscored the company’s long-term vision. “Amgen India reflects our growth ambitions and our commitment to global health. We are excited to engage with India’s exceptional talent and contribute to the dynamic biotech landscape,” he noted.
Operating under Amgen’s global framework, the Hyderabad center will play a critical role in advancing the company’s research and technology initiatives, further strengthening its position in the global biotech sector.
