Amit Shah Hails ₹17,155 Cr Railway Allocation for Gujarat, Calls It 'Golden Period' of Development.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for allocating ₹17,155 crore to Gujarat’s railways in the Union Budget 2025-26, calling it a "golden period" of development.
In a post on X, Shah highlighted the significant increase in railway investments, stating that during 2009-14, under the previous government, Gujarat received only ₹589 crore. In contrast, the Modi government has raised this allocation 29 times to ₹17,155 crore for 2025-26.
The minister noted that railway electrification in Gujarat has surged 22 times in the past decade, with 97% of tracks now electrified. Additionally, 87 stations in the state will be upgraded into Amrit Stations at a cost of ₹6,303 crore, including key hubs like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Porbandar. Another ₹5,572 crore is being invested in redeveloping seven major stations, including Gandhinagar Capital, Surat, and Sabarmati.
As the MP from Gandhinagar, Shah expressed particular satisfaction with the ₹799 crore allocated for the city's station redevelopment. He emphasized that the transformation of Gujarat’s railway infrastructure will drive growth in trade, industry, transportation, and employment across the state.
