AM/NS India Expands Automotive Steel Production.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India has commissioned a new, state-of-the-art Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL) at its Hazira plant, significantly enhancing its capability to produce advanced high-strength steel for the automotive sector.
This latest addition will increase the company's overall capacity for downstream products by 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), bringing the total to 3.3 mtpa. AM/NS India has ambitious plans to further boost this capacity to 5 mtpa by the end of this year, with the scheduled commissioning of two more lines.
The expansion is part of a larger investment strategy. In 2022, AM/NS India committed approximately ₹8,500 crore towards five galvanising lines at the Hazira facility, and it has already expended about 85 percent of this planned capital expenditure. This ongoing investment underscores AM/NS India's commitment to meeting the growing demand for high-quality automotive steel in the domestic market.
