Andhra Pradesh is seeking to strengthen its aviation ecosystem through greater private sector participation and public-private partnership (PPP) models under its New Aviation Policy 2024-30.
Issued by the State Department of Investments and Infrastructure, the policy outlines a broad development plan for aviation infrastructure, encompassing international airports, regional airfields, low-cost "no-frills" airports, water aerodromes and heliports.
The government aims to improve air connectivity across the state by ensuring that every region has access to an airport within a radius of about 150 kilometres. To achieve this objective, Andhra Pradesh plans to develop 10 greenfield airports and 10 water aerodromes over the next four years.
The policy is designed to attract private investment into airport development and allied infrastructure while supporting the state's ambition to emerge as a key aviation hub on India's eastern coast. By expanding air connectivity and modernising aviation facilities, the government expects to boost tourism, trade, logistics and regional economic growth.
Officials said the initiative would create an integrated aviation network across the state, improving accessibility and supporting long-term infrastructure development.
