Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram Dam Hits 81% Progress, Says Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The Polavaram Irrigation Project in Andhra Pradesh is expected to be completed by June 2026, with nearly 90% of the work already finished and water storage reaching the minimum drawdown level (MDDL), according to a report by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

As of October 2025, the project has achieved 81.45% overall progress, marking significant physical and financial milestones. Key components of the project have seen substantial completion, including earthwork at 90.2%, concrete work at 85%, and structures at 55%, the Ministry’s annual report for 2025-26 stated.

The report also highlighted progress on specific project segments, with headworks 81% complete, the Right Main Canal 92% finished, and the Left Main Canal 73% completed, underscoring steady advancement toward full operational readiness.

The Polavaram project, a major irrigation and multipurpose river project, aims to provide water security and support agriculture across the region once fully operational.
