AP Cabinet Moves to Acquire More Land for Amaravati Development.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, has decided to initiate a second round of land acquisition within the Amaravati Capital Region. This new phase aims to secure land essential for developing the infrastructure needed for the upcoming Greenfield capital.
According to IT Minister K Parathasarathy, speaking to reporters in Amaravati, the Cabinet has opted to utilize the land-pooling method for this acquisition. This approach mirrors the strategy employed during the first round of land acquisition between 2014-2019, when the Telugu Desam Party government was previously in power.
While specific details regarding the quantum of land and exact locations are yet to be formally announced, Minister Parathasarathy emphasized that the acquisition process will be conducted in an eco-friendly manner. He assured that efforts would be made to preserve existing water bodies and greenery, strictly adhering to guidelines set by the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal. Furthermore, the Cabinet has resolved to offer a "better" compensation package to farmers, aligning with current market dynamics.
This decision marks a significant step forward in the development of Amaravati, signaling a renewed push to build out the foundational infrastructure for the new capital.
