APDDCF embarks Rs 600-mn for dairy development

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Co-operative Federation (APDDCF) will be investing Rs 60 crore for dairy development in the State.

“Out of the total investment, Rs 10 crore will be invested in the two lakh litres per day (LLPD) Swarna Jayanthi Pala Padarthala Kamagar (milk products factory),” Mr Adhar Sinha, Managing Director, APDDCF, said on the sidelines of an event.

The federation will also be investing Rs 20 crore for 60 bulk milk cooling units, Rs 10 crore for Electronic Miliko-Testers to village milk collection centres, Rs 10 crore for opening Vijaya Dairy Kiosks.

Mr Sinha also said that the federation has already invested Rs 52.36 crore in modernisation and strengthening of dairy plants and establishing 132 bulk milk cooling units across the State.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, launched couple of new products of the federation which include Vijaya Rosogulla, Vijaya Gulab Jamun and Vijaya Milky Way Flavoured Milk.

The Chief Minister apart from laying the foundation store for the two LLPD milk products factory also laid the foundation for Vijaya Ksheera Kranthi Sikshana Kendram, a training and development centre on dairy technology. He also inaugurated the new 200 ML tetrapak milk packing unit.

“In the last four years, the type of development seen in the federation did not happen earlier. The earlier Governments were developing the factories of Heritage while the factories of APDDCF were closing down,” Dr Reddy said.

He added the State Government during the current financial year has set a target of 1,32,000 cattle this year as against 42,000 last year.

Mr Sinha said the federation has expanded milk procurement network to 19 districts. “Earlier the coverage was limited to six districts Medak, Nizamabad, Ananthapur, Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Khamma. But now this has been expanded to 13 new districts,” he said.

It expects to cover Srikakulam, Kurnool and Nalgonda by the end of the calendar year.
