Aquatic animal health lab at Kufos soon.

If fishes in your farm or pond or the backwaters are dying, a 'hospital' is coming up at the Kerala university of fisheries and ocean studies (Kufos) to help you. The aquatic animal health laboratory will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs. 56 lakh at the varsity, with assistance from the national fisheries development board (NFDB).

The laboratory will function as a monitoring and surveillance centre for diseases affecting fishes in the state. 'We will also be assessing the pollution levels of waters as well as environment so that fisherfolk and farmers can report any disease noticed in fishes,' Kufos vice-chancellor B Madhusoodana Kurup said.
