Ashok Leyland Lays Foundation for New Battery Pack Unit in Tamil Nadu.

Ashok Leyland recently announced the ground-breaking of a greenfield battery pack manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam near Chennai.

The project will involve an investment of around ₹400–500 crore and forms part of the broader investment commitments by the Hinduja Group under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2025.

The upcoming battery pack manufacturing facility is expected to support the company’s electric mobility plans and strengthen the EV supply chain.

The project also aligns with Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy 2023, the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage, and India’s long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
