Ashok Leyland Secures Largest Fully-Built Bus Order from MSRTC.

Ashok Leyland, India's second-largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer, has landed its biggest single order for fully built buses from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), valued at ₹982 crore.

The Chennai-based company will supply 2,104 units of its Viking passenger buses, with deliveries commencing next month. These buses will adhere to the latest CMVR standards, feature an AIS 153 compliant body, and be equipped with the advanced iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology, including a 197 HP H-Series engine and rear air suspension. The buses will be produced at Ashok Leyland’s dedicated bus body plants in Alwar, Rajasthan, and Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

“This new order underscores our dedication to producing highly efficient and technologically advanced products, driving the growth of public transportation in the country,” said Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director & CEO of Ashok Leyland.

With this significant order, Ashok Leyland buses will play a dominant role in the fleet of MSRTC, one of the largest state transport undertakings in India, boasting over 15,000 buses. This order also strengthens Ashok Leyland's position in both the Indian and global bus markets.
