ASICS Aims for Wider India Footprint with 30 New Stores in 2025.
Japanese sportswear giant ASICS is set to significantly expand its retail presence across India, announcing plans to open 30 new stores in the calendar year 2025. This ambitious expansion strategy follows a strong start to the current year, with the company already inaugurating seven new outlets between January and March. ASICS aims to maintain this momentum by adding an average of three new stores every month throughout 2025.
A key aspect of ASICS' expansion strategy is its focus on reaching consumers in emerging markets. The company anticipates that over 50 percent of the 30 new stores will be located in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, indicating a strategic move to penetrate deeper into the Indian hinterland.
This emphasis on smaller cities builds upon ASICS' growth trajectory in the previous year. In 2024, the brand added approximately 15 mono-brand stores in India, with more than half of these new locations also established in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Currently, ASICS operates a total of 122 stores across the country.
Rajat Khurana, Managing Director of ASICS India and South Asia, highlighted the company's robust financial performance, stating that the Indian arm recorded a revenue of ₹430 crore in the calendar year 2024, marking an impressive growth of nearly 27 percent. Looking ahead, Khurana expressed confidence in the brand's continued success, projecting a growth of over 35 percent compared to the previous year. This aggressive expansion plan underscores ASICS' bullish outlook on the Indian market and its commitment to making its high-performance sportswear more accessible to a wider consumer base across the country.
