Bahrain-based VKL Group to invest in Kerala.
VKL Group, a diversified business enterprise based in Bahrain, is entering the real estate sector in Kerala with a series of housing and resort projects worth Rs. 2,000 crore.
The group has floated a new company, VKL Builders India, to spearhead its operations, according to Varghese Kurian, Chairman and Managing Director.
He announced the launch of two projects in Thiruvananthapuram – the 'VKL Gardens' premium apartments at Sreekaryam and 'VKL Towers' on the NH bypass at Kazhakoottam opposite Technopark.
Kurian told newspersons here that the company proposed to promote multiple housing and resort projects and a number of charitable endeavours.
The VKL group has presence in the hospitality, education, healthcare, contracting and dredging sectors.
In Kerala, it will promote housing projects, educational institutions, specialty hospitals, hotels, shopping malls and Ayurveda resorts.
They include the VKL Township, Thiruvananthapuram, featuring six apartment towers; apartment complexes near Santhigiri Ashramam at Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram, Poothotta in Vaikkom, and Panangad in Kochi. A global Ayurvedic Village project in Alappuzha is also on the anvil.
The group is also closely associated with government-promoted infrastructure player Inkel Ltd as a project partner.
The group presented a cheque of Rs. 2 crore to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as contribution to the 'Home for the Homeless' scheme being implemented by the Kerala State Housing Board.
