BALCO Adds 0.5 MT Capacity, Joins Million Tonne Club.

Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), a subsidiary of Vedanta Aluminium, has joined the ranks of a select group of global aluminium producers with a production capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), following the commissioning of a new 0.5 MTPA capacity.

As part of its ongoing 1 MTPA expansion project, BALCO has commissioned the country’s largest 525 kilo Ampere (kA) smelter, the company announced. The newly commissioned 0.435 MTPA potline has pushed BALCO’s total aluminium production capacity to 1 MTPA, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory.
