Baldota Group to Establish Steel Plant in Koppal.

Karnataka-based Baldota Group is investing ₹54,000 crore to establish an integrated steel plant with a production capacity of 10.50 million tons per annum in Koppal taluk, Karnataka. The company will formalize the project by signing a Memorandum of Agreement at the Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) on February 11 in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, according to an official statement.

The new facility, to be named Baldota Steel and Power Limited (BSPL), is expected to significantly enhance steel production in Karnataka while creating large-scale employment opportunities for locals.

“The project will play a crucial role in boosting Karnataka’s industrial landscape and supporting economic growth,” said Rahul Kumar Baldota, Joint Managing Director of Baldota Group.

Baldota Group has a diverse presence in mineral exploration, mining, industrial gases, pellet production, wind power, shipping, and waste treatment products. It also operates iron ore mines in Karnataka. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company has planted two million trees and adopted 20 villages, contributing to education, healthcare, sanitation, and women’s empowerment in rural areas.

The Invest Karnataka 2025 Global Investors’ Meet, scheduled for February 12-14, will also witness key announcements, including the development of a 200-acre Startup Park near Hubballi Airport, designed to accommodate around 400 startups, and a 1,200-acre Solar Cell Manufacturing and Agro-Tech Park in Vijayapura district.
