Bangla Gov mulls garment industry park

Bangladesh: The industries minister, Dilip Barua Monday said the government would build up a separate ‘Garment Industry Park’ to ensure planned industrialisation in the country.

Talking to the leaders of Bangladesh Garments Workers Oikya Parsishad in his office the minister said the country would be benefited by utilising cheap but skilled labour force available to the garments industry.

He asked them to stay alert so that no opportunist can create anarchy in garments sector. They must ensure working atmosphere for unimpeded running of the factories.

The parishad leaders urged the minister to incorporate issues related to health and environment in formulating industrial policy. They demanded promotion of backward linkage in fabrics sector for flourishing the industry.

Parishad coordinator Delwar Hossain and general secretary of National Garments Workers Federation Amirul Haque, among others, were present in the meeting.
