BBI to increase investment

Hyderabad: Bharat Biotech International (BBI) will be investing in clinical research and also setting up a manufacturing facility. The funds will be sourced through internal accruals, grants from the Department of Biotechnology and international agencies.

BBI is developing number of vaccines that are in phase I and phase II clinical trails. The vaccine on Chikungunya is in phase I clinical trails. Other vaccines related to Rotavirus, Typhoid, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis and H1N1 have completed phase II.

It is also developing a biopharmaceutical drug for cardiovascular problem. After successful trials, all the vaccines are likely to be launched in the next two years.
