Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has clinched a substantial order worth ₹580 crore from the Indian Army for the supply of AMC Radars. This strategic project is set to involve the collaboration of various Indian electronics and associated industries, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) acting as sub-vendors for BEL. Notably, all equipment manufactured under this contract aligns with the objectives of the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' programme, emphasizing self-reliance and indigenous production.
In addition to the ₹580 crore order for AMC Radars, BEL has also been awarded additional contracts amounting to ₹3,335 crore since the last disclosure on September 15, 2023. These supplementary orders encompass a spectrum of critical technologies, including AMC for the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system, uncooled Thermal Imaging (TI) sights, software-defined radios, Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) payload, AMC for the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), passive night vision binoculars, among others.
The cumulative effect of these contracts positions BEL's total orders at an impressive ₹18,298 crore for the current financial year 2023–24. The company's consistent success in securing these contracts underscores its pivotal role in advancing indigenous technology and contributing to the country's defense capabilities.
