Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. Secures ₹23 Crore Contract for Railways' KAVACH System.

State-owned engineering giant Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) announced Friday that it has secured an order worth ₹22.87 crore from Indian Railways. The contract is for the supply and installation of KAVACH, an automatic train protection system.

According to a regulatory filing, the order was received from the South Western Railway on September 11, 2025.

The project involves the "design, development, supply, installation, trial and commissioning of on-board KAVACH equipment in locomotives and trackside KAVACH equipment at station/LC/IB/ABS locations, along with associated works," the company said in the filing.

The KAVACH system is an indigenously developed technology designed to prevent train collisions by automatically applying brakes if a driver fails to do so, significantly enhancing rail safety.
