Bid to attract investments in Mangalore petro projects.

Road shows will be conducted to attract investments in the downstream petroleum industries in Mangalore, according to M Veerappa Moily, Union Petroleum Minister.

Inaugurating the transport hub of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. at the Mangalore LPG import facility recently, he said that a road show will be conducted in Mumbai in the next 15 days to attract investments for downstream petroleum industries in Mangalore.

Downstream industries in petroleum sector can attract huge investments in special economic zone in Mangalore, he said.

The Government is setting up strategic underground crude reserves in Mangalore, Udupi and Visakhapatnam. These reserves will have a total storage capacity of more than 5 million tonnes.

Another 12.5 million tonnes of crude storage capacity will be created in other parts of the country in the second phase, he said.

The work on the establishment of a transport hub for the crew of LPG tankers was started six months ago. Built at a cost of RS. 1 crore, the hub offers facilities such as dormitories, hospital and recreation centre, among others, he said.
