Bikanervala to set up 50 stores in two yrs

Mumbai: Bikanervala Foods Pvt Ltd, a Rajasthan-based Indian sweets and snacks player, is planning to set up 50 sweet shop-cum-restaurants across the country in the next two years.

The company opened its 26th store in Ahmedabad recently, with 25 such sweet shop-cum-restaurants set up in India, Nepal and the UAE.

The company, which manufactures sweets, namkeens, vegetarian fast food and snacks at its stores, is also planning to enter into dairy products at its upcoming Food Park in Rajasthan, said Shyam Sunder Aggarwal, Managing Director, Bikanervala Foods.

Apart from sweet shops and restaurants, the company also exports packaged sweets and namkeen products with a shelf life from around six months to one year to countries like the UK, USA, New Zealand, UAE, Philippines, Italy, Canada, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Mauritius and other SAARC countries under the brand name ‘Bikano’.

Aggarwal said that the company is looking to up its market share in the $14,000 million food industry and aim at popularising Indian traditional food against the western fast food culture brought in by the global firms.

Moreover, the company is developing courses in Indian traditional food which will be adopted by Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country, added Aggarwal.

From sweets, snacks, namkeens to fast food, North Indian, South Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine, Bikanervala manufactures over 500 products at its stores, said Aggarwal.
