Biogas sector likely to attract ₹5,000-crore investment in 2026-27: IBA.

The biogas sector in India is expected to attract investments of over ₹5,000 crore in 2026-27, driven by strong investor interest and growing stakeholder engagement this year, the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) said.

Currently, more than 100 compressed biogas (CBG) plants have been commissioned, and 2025 has seen a rising pipeline of projects along with heightened investor activity, the IBA noted.

Citing government data, the association said 94 CBG plants sold over 31,400 tonnes of CBG during FY 2024-25, highlighting the sector’s robust growth and increasing market adoption.
