Blackstone-Backed AirTrunk Announces ₹3 Lakh Crore Push into India’s Data Centre Ecosystem.

AirTrunk, the Asia-Pacific region’s leading hyperscale digital infrastructure platform, plans to invest more than ₹3 lakh crore ($30 billion) in India’s digital infrastructure by 2030, marking one of the largest planned investments in the country’s data centre sector.

The company said the investment will support the next phase of cloud computing and artificial intelligence growth while strengthening India’s position as a key market in AirTrunk’s long-term global expansion strategy.

AirTrunk was acquired in 2024 by Blackstone, which holds a majority stake, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). The investors partnered with AirTrunk Founder and Chief Executive Officer Robin Khuda, who retained a minority stake in the company. The transaction valued AirTrunk at more than A$24 billion, implying an enterprise valuation of about ₹1.53 trillion.

Backed by its new shareholders, AirTrunk said it is well-capitalised to fund the development of hyperscale data centres across the Asia-Pacific region, with India expected to emerge as one of its most significant investment destinations.

According to the company, the planned investment will help expand digital infrastructure capacity, support rising demand from cloud service providers and AI workloads, and contribute to the country’s rapidly growing digital economy.
