BPCL petrochem complex gets environmental nod.

Union Ministry for Environment and Forests has accorded environmental clearance for the propylene derivatives petrochemical project proposed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation in Kochi.

This was announced by executive director of BPCL's Kochi refinery Prasad Panicker at the opening session of a bunkering business conference recently. He later told The Hindu that the environmental clearance meant that work on the project would begin immediately.

BPCL was yet to zoom in on the technology for the petrochemical complex and the oil company planned to buy out the technology and not seek a partner, said Mr. Panicker.
