CA to expand India Technology Center in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: CA, a global leader in IT management services said that the company is looking at better opportunities in the market and announced investments of $30 million to expand the India Technology Center in Hyderabad.

When completed in 2010, it would have 1,000 more engineers, taking the total to 2,600, Mr Ajei Gopal, Executive Vice-President (Enterprise IT Management), said.

At present, the Hyderabad centre is home to 25 per cent of CA’s global R&D strength. Last year, CA registered sales worth $4 billion.

The second phase of the R&D campus already started which will add another 1,000 employees.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that the company’s products were essential to its clients and that they couldn’t do away with certain processes.

He refused to comment on whether the slowdown could hit the revenues of company. He, however, indicated that there might not be a significant impact, saying that the company didn’t sell “not nice-to-have” products.

“Our products are essential as we ensure optimisation of IT spending of our clients,” he said.

Mr Lokesh Jindal, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, said the India centre had developed about 60 patent ideas that were in various stages of obtaining patent rights.
