Cargo traffic up in Tuticorin Port

Tuticorin: There has been an increase in the handling of different types of cargo and export of heavy vehicles at Tuticorin port. Through the vessel m.v. Supreme, 31 chassis, 10 mini buses and 38 tippers of Ashok Leyland were loaded recently to Sri Lanka.

Usually, the heavy vehicles are loaded in specially designed RO/RO vessels. However, the consignment was successfully handled in a general cargo vessel without any damage.

Ninety-two more heavy vehicles have been mobilised and stacked in the wharf area for subsequent shipment to Sri Lanka, a release from the Chairman, Tuticorin Port Trust, Mr N.K. Raghupathy, said.
