CCI Clears Four Laning of Hubli-Hospet Section of NH-63 in Karnataka
The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the development of four laning of Hubli-Hospet section of National Highway-63 in Karnataka under NHDP Phase IV on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT/BOT) basis. The total length of the road will be 143.29 kms.
The total cost of the project including land acquisition, rehabilitation and pre-construction activities will be Rs.1442.48 crore. The concession period will be 27 years including construction period of 30 months.
The main object of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in Karnataka and also in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying between Hubli and Hospet. This stretch also provides connectivity to important industrial towns of Hospet and Hubli. Bellary is a major mining are of Karnataka and the stretch will be used for transportation of minerals from Bellary to Karwar port. It will also increase the employment potential for local labourers for project activities.
The project is covered in the districts of Dharwad, Gadag and Koppal in Karnataka.
