Centre Approves ₹13,000 Crore Projects for Pune Metro and Railways.

The Union Cabinet recently approved the extension of Pune Metro, while the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) sanctioned two additional railway projects, with a combined outlay of around ₹13,000 crore.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the approval covers Line 4 (Kharadi–Hadapsar–Swargate–Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug) under Phase-2 of the Pune Metro Rail Project, with an estimated cost of ₹9,858 crore. This marks the second major project approved under Phase-2, following the earlier sanction of Line 2A (Vanaz–Chandani Chowk) and Line 2B (Ramwadi–Wagholi/Vitthalwadi).

With this latest approval, Pune Metro’s network will exceed the 100-km milestone, representing a major step forward in the city’s development of a modern, integrated, and sustainable urban transit system, Vaishnaw added.
