Centre gives nod for Pvt Cos to modernise Delhi rly station

New Delhi: The Central government committee that looks into public-private partnerships has approved Railway Ministry's proposal to engage private companies in the redevelopment and modernisation of New Delhi railway station.

The Seventeenth Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) meeting, chaired by Ashok Chawla, Secretary (Economic Affairs) has given in principle approval for public-private partnership in redevelopment and modernisation of New Delhi railway station, a government release said.

Since its constitution in January 2006, PPPAC has granted approval to 66 projects of which 56 were for highway development. Ports (six projects), airports (two projects), tourism infrastructure (one project) and railways (one project) are the other ones.
