City to Have Three Conflict-free Road Corridors.

For seamless and hassle-free travel along the dense traffic stretches of the twin cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is going to hire consultancy services for preparation of a feasibility report on comprehensive development of three select corridors as conflict-free corridors in GHMC limits.

The three corridors cover a length of 60 km. The conflict-free corridors are proposed as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. GHMC officials told Express that as it would be for the first time that the city would have conflict-free corridors, the GHMC would hire consultants who have successfully conducted feasibility studies or prepared detailed project reports for strengthening at least two highways, national or state, for a length not less than 200 km in a year in the last 10 years.

The firm should have successfully prepared DPRs on two urban road projects for a length not less than 40 km in aggregate in a single package or two major structures such as grade separators, elevated corridors, bridges, road over-bridges (RoBs) and road under-bridges (RuBs). The last date for submission of tenders is January 13. A meeting with the firms will be held on January 9.

Senior officials of GHMC inspected important stretches of roads where the movement of traffic is heavy and conflict at junctions are common. They identified a few crucial stretches and plan to make them conflict-free. There will be no traffic signals or bottlenecks on these stretches. The corporation will give sufficient time to consultants to prepare DPRs as the identified road stretches pass through highly-congested areas and need a meticulous study of the traffic, sub-soil, the utilities above and below the ground, right of way availability, etc.

After submission of the report by the consultant and approval from the state government, the GHMC will invite tenders for developing the conflict-free corridors.

Proposed Corridors

Nagarjuna Circle (Punjagutta) to Gachibowli via Road No 1 of Banjara Hills, Masab Tank and Mehidipatnam.

Nagarjuna Circle to Kavuri Hills via KBR Park, Jubilee Hills Check-post and Road No. 45.

Jubilee Hills Check-post to Kothaguda via Hitec City.
