CMRL Awards Phase II Operation & Maintenance Contract to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has awarded the operation and maintenance contract for its Phase II network to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) at a gross cost of ₹5,870 crore.
The contract covers a total of 118.9 route km across three corridors—C3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT II), C4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass), and C5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur)—along with three maintenance depots.
CMRL Managing Director M.A. Siddique handed over the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar on April 2. The event was attended by senior officials, including S. Krishnamoorthy, Director (Finance) of CMRL, and Dr. Amit Kumar Jain, Director (Operations & Services) of DMRC.
Under the contract, DMRC will be responsible for operating and maintaining all assets of the Phase II network, ensuring global standards in service delivery and infrastructure maintenance. The agreement marks a significant step in the expansion of Chennai’s metro network, enhancing connectivity and efficiency in urban transportation.
