Kochi: The Cochin Port Trust in consultation with union representatives and employees, has constituted a committee to look into the abnormal cargo-handling cost prevailing in the port vis a vis the neighbouring ports of Tuticorin, New Mangalore and Chennai.

The first meeting of the committee, which is headed by the traffic manager, will be held on Thursday at the port's conference hall.

The port authorities had also advised that one member each from United Stevedores Association, Steamer Agents Association and Cochin Customs House Agents Association should be part of the committee.
