Cochin Port Trust to invite bids for building 1 m sqft godown space.
Cochin Port Trust intends to award contracts for construction of one million sq ft of godown space by December 31, as part of its plan to develop a cargo park in Willingdon Island.
The godowns are to be primarily used to attract traffic through the port’s berths and terminals.
The port authorities have invited applications from interested parties to develop and operate modern warehouses on commercial basis on Willingdon Island from among the plots, list of which is placed in the website.
Plots having area of 45 cents to 1010 cents are available for construction of warehouses. The annual lease rent payable is Rs. 7.90 lakhs per acre.
Interested parties should specify the one-time upfront premium that they are willing to offer over and above the annual lease rent for the plot number in which they are interested.
Since the Port Trust can award allotments of land on lease only on the basis of auction-cum-tender, the plot indicated would be put to auction-cum-tender with the price indicated as reserve price. The bidder offering the highest upfront premium will be allotted the plot, a release said.
