Cooper Corp Mulling to Enter LCV Segment.

Genset maker Cooper Corporation is eyeing to enter the Indian automobile market in the Light Commercial Vehicle segment when the recession in the sector ends.

The Indian automobile market, especially the commercial vehicle segment has been witnessing at least two years of consecutive de-growth. The Kolkata-based Cooper Corp is already into the business of manufacturing engines and is reportedly ready with its prototype of a small sized CV with a capacity of 2.5-3.5 tonnes, Rajesh Walke, GM (engine business) told agencies.

It had invested '400 crore in developing vehicles at its plant in Satara (Maharashtra). The CV segment witnessed a de-growth of -20.33% in Fy14 with Medium and Heavy CV dropping -25.33 per cent while LCV witnessed a de-growth of -17.62 per cent.
