Defence Boost: BEML Bags ₹294 Cr Contract for High Mobility Vehicles.

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has been awarded a significant ₹293.81 crore order by the Ministry of Defence. The contract is for the supply of 150 units of indigenously designed High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) 6x6.

These robust HMVs will be primarily manufactured at BEML's state-of-the-art facilities in Palakkad, Kerala, and Mysore, Karnataka, with additional production capacity utilized across other divisions based on operational feasibility.

Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Ltd., emphasized the importance of this order. "This order showcases BEML’s expertise and capacity in delivering advanced indigenous products that enhance India’s defence infrastructure," he stated.

The HMVs are expected to play a crucial role in supporting general military operations. Beyond that, their high mobility will make them a critical lifeline for delivering essential services and comprehensive logistical support, particularly to some of the nation's most remote and inaccessible regions. This further underscores India's push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
