Delhi–Mumbai Expressway work in Rajasthan nears end, completion expected by September.

Work on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, India’s longest expressway, is progressing rapidly in Rajasthan, with authorities targeting completion by September this year. The expressway spans nearly 373 km across the state, of which about 338 km have been completed, leaving 35 km under construction.

A critical 27-km segment passing through Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, and Bundi districts is nearing completion, while construction continues on a tunnel near Kota, where technical challenges have caused minor delays.

Designed as a high-speed corridor, the expressway will allow vehicles to travel up to 120 km per hour. Slow-moving vehicles will be restricted from the main carriageway, and access will be limited to designated interchanges equipped with automated toll systems to ensure safety and efficiency.

Once operational, travel times in eastern Rajasthan will be significantly reduced. The journey from Dausa to Kota, currently around five hours, is expected to drop to about two hours, while travel from Kota to Delhi will decrease from nine hours to roughly five hours, benefiting both commuters and logistics operators.

A senior official from the National Highways Authority of India said the expressway will greatly enhance connectivity between the national capital and Mumbai, cutting travel time and fuel costs. “Once the expressway is opened, travel between Delhi and Mumbai will become much more efficient,” the official added.
