"Delta's New R&D Facility to Boost Local and Global Manufacturing, Says MD Niranjan Nayak"
Bengaluru-based Delta Electronics' new research and development (R&D) facility will be a critical driver in supporting both local and global energy and power-saving solutions, according to Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India. The facility is expected to contribute around 70% of its projects to India and 30% to global initiatives, though these figures may shift as market demands change, Nayak told BusinessLine.
While the R&D center is still in its early stages, the company anticipates a significant surge in orders over the next five years. Delta plans to integrate projects from its local and global R&D centers, aiming for increased innovation and business growth. "We expect to see many new projects emerge as we expand our hiring and develop solutions for both local and global markets," Nayak said.
The Bengaluru center is focused on creating renewable energy products, including solar inverters, to support India’s growth in clean energy over the next decade. It is also working on energy storage solutions for various sectors and developing components and infrastructure for India’s booming electric vehicle (EV) market, including two-, three-, and four-wheelers. Additionally, the facility is working on data center and industrial automation solutions, sectors that are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
Nayak highlighted Delta's flexibility in adjusting its R&D focus based on evolving demands. "If global R&D centers require more software expertise, we can quickly scale up our capabilities here in India," he noted
Currently, Delta employs over 300 engineers, with plans to hire an additional 500 to 700 engineers over the next five years to meet its ambitious goals.
