DHA roads rehabilitation project reviewed

Karachi: A meeting of contractors, consultants, engineers and officials involved in roads rehabilitation project chaired by Administrator DHA Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi was held at Housing Authority's Main Office to review the progress of the ongoing project. CEO CBC Zeenat Ahmed along with her team was also present on the occasion.

Brigadier Tirmizi said that all damaged roads in DHA would be re-carpeted by 30 June 2009. He asked the contractors and consultants to ensure that all the damaged roads were restored to the position as before the laying of Drainage System in DHA within stipulated timeline. The administrator said that there was a general perception that progress on the road construction work was very slow.

He stressed the need to expedite the pace of project work to meet the given deadline. The meeting was informed that the project involved refurbishment, realignment and re-profiling of roads and all this would be executed in accordance with given technical parameters.

The project consultant reiterated that it was essential to maintain the road levels and slopes to ensure the efficacy of newly built drainage system in DHA. The meeting was also informed that all the contractors have mobilised on the project site and roads construction work had started in a phased programme. The work involved compaction of roads which was a pre-requisite before starting laying of black road surface. The meeting decided to follow a dynamic monitoring regime to ensure professional quality of the project work.
