Dharavi, one of the most densely populated urban settlements in Mumbai, is set for a major transformation under an ambitious redevelopment initiative aimed at turning the area into a modern urban hub with smart city features, improved public spaces, and enhanced transport connectivity.

According to a report by HSBC Holdings, the Dharavi Redevelopment Project is among the largest urban renewal efforts in Asia. The project is expected to significantly reshape the living conditions of over one million residents by upgrading housing, infrastructure, and civic amenities.

Planned as a large-scale urban overhaul, the redevelopment envisions integrated development that includes modern housing, better mobility systems, and redesigned public infrastructure, marking a major shift for the long-standing informal settlement at the heart of Mumbai.
