"DMRC to Draft DPR for Indore-Ujjain and Indore-Pithampur Metro Rail Corridors"

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been commissioned to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for two metro rail corridors in Madhya Pradesh: Indore to Ujjain and Indore to Pithampur. The total estimated length of these corridors is 84 kilometers.

The DMRC will provide technical advice and oversee the DPR preparation for these corridors. The initial phase of the project involves connecting the Shri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain with the Nanakheda Bus Stand and Lavkush Chauraha in Indore.

The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited has officially requested DMRC's expertise for this task. Previously, the state government had announced the metro rail project between Indore and Ujjain in anticipation of the Simhastha, a major Hindu festival held once every 12 years in Ujjain, which is scheduled for 2028.

In related developments, officials reported that the trial run for the first phase of the metro rail in Bhopal was completed in October last year, with the second and third phases set to commence soon. Additionally, work is ongoing for a 31-kilometer-long metro line in Indore.
