DQE to launch third tech centre

Hyderabad: Gaming, animation and visual effects services provider DQ Entertainment Ltd (DQE) on Saturday announced the launch of their third animation-and-technology centre to be located in the Hitech City here.

This facility will have capability to host about 1,000 people and assist DQE in handling 3D work, production and co-production for feature films, direct-to-home videos (DTH), TV serials, and gaming services.

The centre was launched in the presence of company clients that included Nickelodeon, Method Films, SA, France and Electronic Arts by the Andhra Pradesh Secretary for Information Technology and Communication, Mr Shailendra Kumar Joshi.

The Vice President of DQE, Ms Sumedha Saraogi, told Business Line that the company had secured a mandate to produce 3D animated TV series for Nickelodeon. The mandate is to develop 52 episodes of 11 minutes each.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of DQE, Mr Tapaas Chakravarti, in a statement said that the company is set to expand its global production and co-production work of some of the iconic brands.

As a part of the expansion project, DQE is also working on in-game animation for next generation platforms of Xbox 360, Play Station III, Nintendo among others.

The company, which employs about 2,500 people, is also in the process of evaluating options to set up a Film School in the proposed special economic zone coming up close to Kokapet near Hyderabad.
