Dr. Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals is set to bolster its footprint in Kerala with a hefty investment of approximately ₹100 crore over the next two years. The investment aims to establish at least six new hospitals across various locations in the state.
The expansion initiative commenced on Wednesday with the inauguration of an exclusive eyecare facility dedicated to advanced retinal services, an extension of its existing hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Aditya Varma Thampuran of the Travancore royal family graced the inauguration ceremony. As part of the facility's launch, free consultations for senior citizens will be offered until March 31, 2024, as per an official statement.
Dr. S Soundari, Regional Head - Clinical Services at Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, highlighted the offerings of the new facility, stating, "Spanning an area of 7,500 sq. ft, the new facility will provide a comprehensive range of advanced vitreoretinal services, including retinal surgery, intravitreal injections, and retinal laser eye care services."
With a dedicated team comprising four specialists and a staff of 14, including optometrists, opticians, pharmacists, lab technicians, paramedics, counsellors, and patient care executives, the new facility will offer personalized and cutting-edge retinal care services, alongside super specialty services such as advanced retinal surgery and phaco keyhole surgery.
The slated investment of ₹100 crore will be directed towards establishing new hospitals in key locations such as Kannur, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kollam, Thalassery, and Malappuram, as well as towards the modernization of existing facilities.
Currently operating over 160 eyecare facilities nationwide, including 131 hospitals and 15 eye clinics in India, along with 15 premier facilities in Africa, Dr. Agarwals Hospital is poised for further expansion. Plans are also underway to establish eyecare hospitals in states like Punjab, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other regions across India.
