Drinking water supply set to go private in Mangalore

The Mangalore City Corporation is preparing grounds to hand over the public water distribution network to private enterprises from Mumbai to provide 24x7 water supply to every household in the city with an expansion vision document 'perspective 2026'.
Two companies from Mumbai, Crysal Solutions and Shah Consultancy Company, have come up with a plan to streamline the water distribution in the city.

'The project envisages the complete management of the water distribution at Rs.137.42 crore, which includes laying of supply pipes in areas which do not have filtered water, metering the new lines and some old lines that have not been metered.


There are three models of financial management of the new system - the most suited to the Mangalore City Corporation and the participating companies is the model that demands investment of Rs96 crore by the central government, Rs.2.5 crore by Mangalore City Corporation and Rs.113 crore by the participating companies,
