Essar Power generates 23% more electricity at Salaya plant.

Essar Power Gujarat Ltd. (EPGL) recently announced 23 per cent higher electricity generation at its 1,200 MW Salaya Power Plant in the State during fiscal 2014-15. The private sector power player informed that with 63 per cent plant load factor, the company generated 6,609 million units of electricity, which was 23 per cent higher than previous year.

The Essar Power subsidiary, EGPL also improved the PLF at Salaya plant by 11 per cent increase over last year. It also maintained the availability of electricity to state utility, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) at 80 per cent for the second consecutive year. Electricity availability in September 2014 stood at 98 per cent, which was highest ever, a company statement said.

Power offtake by GUVNL during 2014-15 was 21 per cent higher than in fiscal 2013-14. Further, the company witnessed sharp surge in the merchant sales at 411 million units, up by 89 per cent over previous year.

In November 2014, EPGL received the Certification from DNV-GL for the Integrated Management for Safety (IMS), the company informed here adding that it also earned rebate on water cess for the third consecutive year, indicating its commitment to environment protection and compliance to regulations.

EPGL, which meets about 10 per cent of its home state's power peak demand, achieved 100 per cent utilisation of fly ash generated by disposal of the same to cement and brick manufacturers.

The company recorded zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) during the year and recorded 3.93 million man hours LTI free, showing its commitment to safety standards.
