Fertilizer Corp's Sindri Unit to be revived by SAIL with Rs 35,000 Cr investments New Delhi: Fertilizer Corporation of India's Sindri plant is to be revived by SAIL.

SAIL also plans to set up a steel plant on the same premises.

The proposed investment for the project - which includes a 5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) steel plant and a 1.15 mtpa fertiliser plant - is Rs 30,000-35,000 crore.

There is 6,000 acres available at the Sindri plant of the Fertilizer Corporation of India.

The feasibility study is going on and should be ready in two to three months.

Past:
The Fertiliser Ministry had earlier rejected SAIL's proposal to set up the plant saying it should first commit on setting up the urea units.

The company did not have expertise in setting up urea units, hence will look at the option of a joint venture.

The joint venture agreement is likely to be signed by mid-November.
