First unit of Hinduja plant ready for commissioning.
The steam blowing activity of 520 MW unit of Hinduja National Power Corporation Ltd. (HNPCL) was made successfully at Palavalasa recently. With this the stage is set for commissioning of the first unit. The coal-fired power plant has two units each with a capacity of 520 MW.
Steam blowing activity is a process of cleaning of pipelines from boiler to turbine by passing steam at high pressure and temperature. 'It went off as per our expectation,' an official told The Hindu.
This will be the second power plant in the district. NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station at Parawadasupplies 1,000 MW from stage-I and 33 per cent of 1,000 MW from stage-II to undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Post bifurcation, both A.P. and Telangana governments sought power allocation from HNPCL while the former insists on supply of total power generated from Palavalasa unit. The contention of A.P. Government is that the State where a project is located should have a major stake in getting the power in view of increasing demand.
NTPC, which was recently allotted 1200 acres at Pudimadaka for establishing a 4000 MW power plant, has agreed in-principle to provide 85 per cent of power to be generated from the plant proposed to be built with super critical technology.
