Foster Wheeler lands Saudi power plant deal.
Foster Wheeler has announced that part of its Global Power Group has been awarded a contract by Samsung C&T to design and supply six heat recovery steam generators for the Rabigh II combined cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia.
The firm said that the six units will be manufactured by its subsidiary BHI and will be coubled to six gas turbines provided by Siemens that are fired by natural gas & oil.
BHI's president, Woo Jong-Ihn, said: 'We have executed a number of key projects in the Middle East and this award reinforces our position as a leading supplier in the region.'
Samsung C&T was awarded a $1.2bn EPC contract to build the Rabigh II Independent Power Project in December 2013. It will supply power to a huge adjacent refinery being built by Saudi Aramco.
The plant is due to come on stream by 2017.
