Foxconn Scouts 200-Acre Site for High-End Electronics Manufacturing Park in Gujarat

Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group, popularly known as Foxconn, is exploring opportunities to establish a technology park and high-end electronics manufacturing facility in India. The global electronics contract manufacturer is reportedly seeking a land parcel of more than 200 acres for the proposed development.

Among the locations under consideration, Foxconn has shown interest in a site near Sanand in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. Company executives have already surveyed the proposed land parcel, according to government sources, and are expected to take a decision on the final location in the coming weeks.

The proposed facility is expected to manufacture mobile phones and other advanced electronic products, potentially strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and creating opportunities for supporting suppliers and ancillary industries.

However, Gujarat is not the only state being evaluated for the investment. Foxconn is also examining potential locations in other parts of the country before making a final decision on the project and its investment location.

The Gujarat government is actively seeking to attract the project and has reportedly offered customised incentives and comprehensive support to facilitate Foxconn’s proposed investment. The state’s recently introduced industrial policy, aimed at creating a more investor-friendly business environment, could also be supplemented with additional incentives specifically tailored for the company.

If finalised, the project would further strengthen Gujarat’s position as a major electronics manufacturing hub and could contribute to the expansion of India’s domestic production capabilities in smartphones and other high-value electronic products. The proposed technology park could also generate significant demand for infrastructure, logistics, component manufacturing and other allied services.
